Entrepreneurship Pathway: Virtual Enterprise

  • What is your favorite class subject to teach?

I love teaching all of my classes but Virtual Enterprise is my favorite because it is so dynamic, fast paced, and can apply to any career that a student wants to try in the future.

  • What is one piece of advice you’d give to students considering business as a career?

Business concepts are part of every industry and what you learn in a business atmosphere can help you succeed in any industry.

  • What is your favorite area in the business realm?

I love the marketing of ideas and finding ways to reach as many people and customers as possible. I have a background in sales and marketing. I also love the creative aspects of business and design from the aesthetic of a company to creating digital content to promote and showcase our work.

  • How would you describe the business department as a whole?

Our department is amazing. We all work hard on ensuring the students get the most out of the time they spend with us. We all actively are involved on campus and in industry committees to give students the most opportunity to grow and learn as possible. We are all very connected and have fun working together.

Legal Pathway: Business and Criminal Law

  • What is your favorite class subject to teach?

All of the courses we teach in the department are relevant and have real life application.  However, if I had to select my favorite, it would be the courses in the Legal Practices Pathway - Criminal Law and Business Law.  Both are complex and fascinating to study.

  • What is one piece of advice you’d give to students considering business as a career?

My advice would be to go for it! Business is a field that encompasses so many disciplines and is a major that is marketable in the workforce.  Having a business degree will give you the skills you need to get a great job and attain a knowledge base that is useful to you outside of the workforce too.

  • What is your favorite area in the business realm?

I would say Economics is my favorite area in the area of business.  Teaching it every year at FVHS has given me the opportunity to realize just how valuable it is in making real life decisions.  Scarcity, trade-offs, and  cost-benefit analysis are concepts most of us use every day, we just don't realize it.

  • How would you describe the business department as a whole?

I would describe it as an engaging and dynamic department.  We are a small department compared to many on campus, which allows for collaboration and collective decision making.  Overall, we enjoy being around one another and have fun working together.
